THE RURAL LIST IS COMING SOON!
We’re getting pretty excited over here at Ruralist these days! We are getting ever closer to the launch of The Rural List, a comprehensive selection of the best things to see, do and buy in rural Ontario. Over the past three years we’ve been meeting and talking to business owners, artisans, chefs, retailers, tourism experts, fashion designers, and many others — to bring you our selection of rural Ontario experiences to enjoy.
Using The Rural List is easy; all you do is click on the map of Ontario, then on the region you will be visiting. This will bring you to a page that features six categories (see, do, buy, stay, eat and celebrate). After clicking the category you want, you will then see a page, sorted alphabetically by town name, that shows you a series of Ruralist buttons that link directly to the Ruralist approved destination. We think you’ll have fun discovering new places and remembering those that you already love. Our list will be evolving and updated regularly, so once it’s launched you’ll need to plan to visit often to see what’s been added.
You may be wondering how we select our Rural List destinations. We’re quite discerning, and there are several key aspects. First, to qualify all selections must have an accessible, standalone website (unfortunately, a Facebook page does not suffice as a website) and second our selections must have a solid reputation. Third, our selections must be excellent at what they do. That does not mean they must be fancy or expensive — you can appreciate that some of the best experiences are often the simplest. A great pastry, a great view or great atmosphere are all simple things that can be truly unforgettable. In short, great service, great products, great reputation and a formal online presence are the keys to making the list.
Our ruralist readers can have confidence that they will not be disappointed when they visit one of our recommendations. So, there is simply no reason to stay home when you can visit Ruralist, pick a location and plan an entire getaway you can be sure to enjoy. So stay tuned: over the next few months we’ll be sharing more Rural List preview information, including our official launch date! You’ll want to check to see if your favourite rural destinations are there.
Take Our Short Ruralist Survey and Win
But wait, we still need your help! We’d like to learn more about how you’re feeling: what’s working and what’s not working for you on Ruralist? To help us make our website the best experience it can be for our readers, we’re hoping you will take our short survey and tell us what you think.
Also, if you are a ruralist organization that would like to be featured on Ruralist, this is your chance to tell us. We receive frequent inquiries about advertising and are creating our advertising packages as we speak. If you are interested in promoting your business on Ruralist, let us know!
Wait — there’s even more: one lucky entrant who completes the survey will receive a three-month Ruralist advertising package! Our survey takes less than a minute to complete and will really help us fine-tune our site, so thanks in advance.
We hope you are as excited as we are about our upcoming launch of the The Rural List. Thanks for reading Ruralist, and don’t forget to participate in our SURVEY!
