Go Winter Camping in a Yurt in Port Elgin – Visit Bruce County’s McGregor Point and stay in one of the 16 yurts in the provincial park. A yurt is an eight-sided, tent-like structure installed on a wooden deck floor.  It can accommodate up to six people and is accessible by vehicle. Each is equipped with electric heat, electric outlet and table and chairs. There’s also a fire pit, kitchen shelter, picnic tables and a propane barbeque with a side burner.  Available for booking all year round, visit in the winter for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or ice skating through the park trails.

Stay in a Lighthouse in Bruce Mines – Wake to the lapping of waves, be a Keeper of the Light at the 1907 McKay Island Lighthouse on Lake Huron. It is one of the few lighthouses in Ontario offering accommodations. The lighthouse is an all season lighthouse; watch the freighters in summer, enjoy the fall colours, listen to the November gales and snowmobile the trails of the North Channel in winter. The lighthouse accommodates six people and comes complete with a fully equipped kitchen and a library.

The property, distinguished by a working bell tower, has been tastefully renovated into a 4,000 square-foot light and airy home. This 1.4 acre riverfront property is in a quiet residential neighbourhood on the east bank of the Muskoka River in Bracebridge, and central to all the fabulous attractions that Muskoka offers.
